Does anyone know how many nav beacons would be along a front in 1944? On something like the Kurland map, would the Russians have 4 or 40?

German beacons in autum 1944
![]() Germans invested heavily in radio navigation already before the war. I had a link of pre war map with beacons somewhere, but I cannot find it now. Russians would probably have much fewer NDBs, since fighters normally didn't have the required instruments. Bombers did. |

Wow that's far fewer than I would have thought. Thanks for that

I'm not at all sure that Viikate's map shows them all. We know from Karayastaffel etc that individual airfields had their own homing system, I'm guessing that the pic shows the night fighter beacons.
I can't imagine that Ju-52's flying supplies in to Kurland had no beacon to guide them, for example, I'm betting there were beacons at Windau and Libau at the very least. |

Ok, I'm actually making a couple of Henschel Hs-129 missions taking place in Kurland. Put 4 beacons on the map, really cool flying in almost zero visibility with the aid of the beacons, put them in some larger cities so I can navigate in relation to the beacons
