Default Sim VS Realistic

Lets here your reasons as to why you play the way you do... I prefer Sim. Reason being is that I like the whole ambush or hide and attack part of it.. I also like to try and spot my enemy before he can spot me.. This was a huge factor in real life... Realistic is OK too. I played yesterday with a bunch of guys on realistic mode, however the target lock on or enemy tracking feature leads to bad habbits IMHO if your a sim player.. Even though I was playing realistic, I still did not use the left trigger to lock on or focus on the enemy, I stuck with the sim way and used R3 toggle as I know if i get used to using the left trigger I will try it in sim and that is not what i want to do I already had to break that habbit LOL....

So anyway, lets hear your reasons...

I second all that you said Drvn. Its Sim for me unless i'm playing with the guys that only do realistic. Can't really do arcade as its just not fun for me.

In sim I can use my flaps and trim to fly the plane better than in realistic. I can use boom & zoom tactics with my Mustangs and Butcherbirds more effectively. When im playing realistic i realise im shooting at red squares rather than at planes and it anoys me that the zoom button switches to the X button so I have to take my thumb off the rudder to use it. Oh and in sim its posible to lose someone off your 6 and if you get someone to overshoot you, you get the advantage as they have often lost sight of you and don't know which way to turn, while in realistic he can just follow the homing arrows.

Basicly in Sim the skill of a player has more influence than in realistic. Doing well in sim is less down to using the best planes, which is the case in realistic.

I fly realistic only because I cannot finish the tutorial for the sim mode.

I shoot down the 1st enemy plane, but in the process I lose sight of the instructor and I can never find him again.

+1 I hate those red blibs in realistic. Never really played with arcade.

Just turn off your HUD display when playing realistic.

Sim is alright if you have a 40" telly and 20/20 eyesight. I play on a 21" monitor and last time I played sim I ended up shooting at a Coke stain on my LCD

haha I do have pretty good eyes but I do only use a 19" widescreen monitor in 1440x900 mode on the xbox meaning it has black bars top and bottom of the screen so probably only 17" viewable picture. 2 Broken pixels on the left of the screen and dead thunderfly inside the bottom right of the screen that have to be ignored as possible bandits

So it is possible to be good at sim without the super tech.
