Tec help needed

A fiend of mine has a strange bug.
No mission briefings appear for him. The blue briefing box is empty in both single player and on dogfight servers.

Google turned up no results for this error. Does anyone have any ideas?

His Gfx card is: Nvid. Gforce 8400

The install is fresh from two days ago. Nothing has been changed after install.

Looks like the old il2fb.exe bug

If he's using a cracked or modded .exe this can happen.

ok, my friend did a fresh reinstall.
Same problem turned up. He is not using any modified/cracked files and has the game through steam.

Tell him to replace his il2fb.exe with this one(but keep the old one):

Not sure if it solves the problem, but I think it's worth a try.

BTW: What size is his install?

There are problems with corrupted steam downloads.

Though they are usually graphical.
