Played The legend 3 times, loved it, on to the sequel. I dont wana waste more than one game learning the mechanics before I shoot for a high-score, so Im hoping you will provide the tips and info needed.
I made 1607 points on Legend on my first Impossible (and 3-rd overall) game which took 14 game days, and I havent the foggiest how the one who did it in 6, actually made it. Nevertheless, checking the high-score thread I am satisfied with what I achieved, so moving on. I understand the old way of retreating from battles and traveling just before 7 AM to save time is no longer usable ( thankfully), but I am sure the community has found other ways to minimize any high score hindrances. And as the title suggests, I would appreciate being told about any other changes of significance from the first game Last edited by john_crapper; 05-05-2010 at 03:39 AM. |

First off, congratulations on beating KBTL with a pretty high score. I believe you could have done it a lot faster had you known that there is a detailed quest walkthrough at the GameFAQs website; as with all speed runs in KB, proper planning on how to accomplish the quests in optimal sequence is key.
Having said that, below is a link with regards to the optimal route for KBAP: http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthr...light=shortest If you really want to target a pretty high score in KBAP you have to guarantee yourself an abundance of Ancient Knowledge scrolls. Just do a search on the forums regarding this topic, as well as the KBScanner. As for your main question, there are a bunch of changes in game mechanics, but none that directly affect a high score attempt (except for the wanderer scroll Ancient Knowledge). You said you were going to do an initial playthrough, so I'm sure you'll find out about these changes then. Good luck! |

That is true, but every trial and error I am spared would be appreciated. I understand paladins are no longer considered the obviously inferior class. How good is class balance here?

- New spell you can build a strategy around: Evlin - Afterburn effect of both fire and poison damage works wonders on large stacks - You can win medals for several things (number of dragons killed, number of stacks killed with a trap). |

I forgot to mention one primary difference that relates to a high-score run; unlike in KBTL where level 30 is the max, in KBAP you could reach level 60 or beyond (level 54-58 if you don't use Ancient Knowledge scrolls). There are too many differences between the two games with regards to spells, items, class skills, enemies, units... you could scour the forums for juicy info that interest you. I also noticed in your KBTL high score run that you didn't gun for no-loss, so cut-throat tactics is not warranted. It should be noted that going no-loss or minimal loss helps in speeding up your game; you don't run around going to shops to restock your troops. It would also be nice to build an army that is flexible (no need to change lineups much to tackle different enemies and situations) and self-sustaining ("Sacrifice"-friendly units so that whenever your leadership increases you could use Sacrifice to top up your stacks during battle). |

I am not aware of what cutthroat tactics means. I always try to minimize loss since in the beggining of the Impossible game i found myself hard pressed to even fully fill my leadership limit, but as for speeding the game: the dragging the battle endlessly for resurrections and such is just the kind of tiresome activity I want to avoid.
Most of my casualties were done near the end when I just wanted to be done with it. |

![]() And I understand what you mean; by the time I reached Haas labyrinth I remember feeling the game was dragging too long. Well, there is still a ton of tactics-combination out there that work, but I'll just mention one since this is what I'm using right now (and I can't really speak for other tactics that I haven't used): 1) take the warrior class 2) mid to end game, use the following lineup: black knights-bone dragons-guard droids-repair droids (split into 2 stacks) 3) make sure you have Eviln for your 2 undead units 4) fill your reserve with extra guard and repair droids 5) use Sacrifice to top up your undead units, use the reserve to top up your droid units 6) use Phantom on the bone dragons to engage the enemies and draw enemy fire 7) build up mana accelerator to convert rage to mana This warrior build alone has many more components that support it (items that lower leadership requirements and increase morale, skills to power your undead/dragon/droids, etc.), but the core tactic and components are already detailed above. The key characteristic of this build is that the units are very easy to "resurrect" via Eviln and the repair droid's ability, and you even have very mobile high-initiative scapegoat units in the form of the phantom bone dragons. Late game, almost all battles (even hero-enhanced "impossible" ones) will be finished without a single loss by turn 5-7. Last edited by loreangelicus; 05-05-2010 at 06:22 PM. |

Roasted rats cost 6000 now? I'll sue. This is wrong and hilarious on so many levels. Notably, any dwarven miner could purchase a small army with just the contents of his pocket.
P.S. What are the abilities of the pet? Does treasure hunter increase gold and runes found at later levels? Last edited by john_crapper; 05-05-2010 at 10:08 PM. |

Gold increases based on the area you're in. Each area has a coefficient based on which the gold found is multiplied. As for the runes, it's based on the chect. If it is a dug up chest, it's always 1 of a kind. If it's a map chest, it's 1-3 of a kind (random). In addition to that, the neatness skill in the mind tree allows you to break items for runes and crystals (1-5 runes of a kind or 1-7 crystals) and is very useful.
As for what's new, I should add that many units went through a stat overhaul. Health has been increased for almost all units, which makes it tougher to kill, which in term, improves the chance of no-loss victories.

Do I have to kill a stack with a trap to get the medal or what is the deal there?
