mystic egg +leadership level up - what does it do?

the level up sometimes gives you +300 leadership.

Does that make what comes out 300 leadership more? if so, then there no way you should ever get that upgrade!

That is the idea. It gives the egg a fixed amount of leadership + % of your own, so with a high enough level, you can spawn a significant number of dragons to aid you, pretty close to your max leadership value.

Just like Ball of Lightning, this ability must be maxed (or closed to maxed) in order to make it shine. In the beginning, it can provide some scapegoat units, but they're usually not that much.

I only tried it once, but by skipping the +300 upgrade, the 70% leadership option never showed up. It looked like as it were a prerequisite... so be careful. The best ratio I could get is level 2-5, 90%+300 for 35 rage.
By the way, it probably rounds up, because I get 4 red dragons with 7000 leadership.

All fixed amount upgrades are NEVER prerequisites for % and level upgrade, and you can safely skip all of those.

The +leadership makes the egg cost more rage in a disproportionate way.

This is very true, it is basically never worth it to upgrade your base leadership for this. Waste of a level, waste of rage.
