Why are my elven "living items" morale going down?

I have an all elf army and I'm attacking Dwarves, Demons, and Undead. Yet my Druid staff and leaf crown's morale have tanked. There's something I'm not quite understanding about them? Thanks for the help!

I have limited experience on the game, but I would guess it is the tendency of items. Then players will have something to do as they must fight the keepers. But I may be wrong.
