Default why doesnt my new controler work properly?

im on ps3 and my controler broke so i got a new dual shock 3 and it only works when the usb is not connected if it is the controler doesnt conect to the console its realy annoying as i like to charge while playing and it is very bad if you lose control mid fight

When the controller turns off, just disconnect the cable from the back of the control press the Home button and reinsert the cable

oh it sorta works with the usb cable in just it frequently disconnects and needs reconnecting and i cant keep pressing the home button or im gonna get shot down alot

Yeah i can see how thats a pain in the ass,
just bought myself a dualshock whatever it's called to replace my old broken six-axis, I
think its great! its got some weight in it so it feels just right

yep it does feel better but it is annoying that it dissconnects

Haven't had mine disconnect yet *Touch wood* it's probably because it's new. But there's still time for it to mess up

oh mine works fine with it not attached to usb but as i said i like to charge whilst playing
