Default in cta

I was flying a stuka, I landed and lost one of my landing gear struts..... still alive. I captured the airfield and managed somehow to take off with only one strut. I then managed to shoot down two 109 e3's and finished the match in the same plane.
I believe the arcade setting explains the weirdness but i felt good lol

Once you've overcome stalling in realistic, it's much easier because the planes aren't built like tanks

My weirdest moments occured during the campaign on simulator in levels with massive dogfights... Looking at the map told me I was in the middle of many, many planes fighting, yet looking out the cockpit it felt like it was just me in the skies...

I lost half of my Hurricane's landing gear after belly flopping in CTA and found it quite amusing flying around with one wheel down.

in arcade it's not really a dogfight, since everyone is moving at close to mach 1, and you have to shoot at them from much farther away

This isn't really a weird thing, but I figured out recently that you can sink the ships off Dover in training. So I tested a bunch of different bomb-carrying planes at the task of sinking them. Turned out the He-111's 250kg bombs sink the destroyers with just one hit, even if it's a near miss. The Ju-88 usually needs all its 50kg wing bombs in addition to its 250kg bomb, and they have to hit direct. I didn't find any other 250kg bombs that sank them in only 1 hit, though I didn't test the other heavy bombers yet.

Also the 50-cal machine gun shots from the ships destroys I-16's and I-153's and Po-2's easily. Cannon fire from other planes hardly does anything to them, but one 50-cal hit from a destroyer will send them spinning into the sea.

And if you bomb the ships too close, it will say you crash into them even when you don't actually touch the ship.

Here's my most memorable moment..

CTA, I'm in a spit chashing down an IL-10 who's trying to land. I misjudged the speed he was going and as I was filling him full of lead I realised I was going to crash into him (he's about 20 feet off the ground at this point) As he exploded in a ball of flames I somehow managed to squeeze underneath him scraping the belly of my plane on the ground and then bounced veritcally straight back up in the air like a skateborder on a half pipe only to have one of my team mates fly straight through one of my wings which resulted in me spinning around, nose straight up and minus a wing before i sank tail first into the runway... It was one of those "no.. oohh..yes.. yes.. oh.. bugger" moments, and sticks in my mind.

Well due to the thrustmaster breaking bug I use my guns to stop on the runway in CTA. I found that when at a halt if you keep firing you start reversing. This makes for a slightly harder target on the deck for strafers. On one occasion some guy was coming at a low 12 o clock strafe. I was firing my guns for a reverse move and he flew right into the gunfire. So my first kill from the ground....in reverse

hey, does that stop the plane from pitching forward too?

I was trying out the Po in training and, while landing, bit a bump at the last minute that flipped the plane up onto its front, prop facing the ground. It stopped dead and stayed like that. No amount of spinning the prop or firing off the rear gun would budge it. In the end I had to bail out, about ten feet from the ground. I was treated to the sounds of my pilot screaming and a huge explosion!
