DLC and MP games?

1. I want to purchase the DLC and will buy the MS points but how do you download it and from where? I sign in and the Xbox message tells me its checking for Down Loadable Content and the game loads. Any help appreciated for an on-line newbie.

2. The 'Capture Airfields' game. How long I am supposed to stay on the ground for to claim the capture. Most of the time I get bombed or another player just Kamikazees me if I stay put for more than a minute or so.

Recognised a few names from this forum in last nights sessions.....really enjoyed myself too

You may purchase the DLC content on Xbox Live website. Under the "games catalog" do an Advanced search for "IL-2"

When that screen appears you will see an orange bar titled "available downloads" under that you will see an option for "Game add-ons"
There you be able to purchase the mission pack.

Don't know about XBox but on PS3 you have to be stationary and a little plane and runway icon comes up. You have to wait until the runway turns blue (red means it's in enemy hands and you'll have to wait for it to go white) It's about ten seconds for each stage? When it's blue it's time to get the hell out of Dodge!

You have to come to a near stop (under 20mph) on the airfield. It does not have to be on a runway, just on the airfield area. On the lower left of the screen is the counter. You have to take it 100% before it gets turned over to your team. You can be killed before that of course, but if you were on long enough, you can at least take it from the other team, and the field will become neutral. Even that is good, because when it is neutral, your tickets stop going away. If you are lucky enough to evade being killed, you will eventually take the field completely for your team, and the other team's tickets will start clicking away.

However, if you notice that the timer is not counting down, and you are on teh field, it can mean that the other team also has a plane on the field. If that is the case, either you, or the other teams plane needs to be killed off the field before it can be taken. You are in sort of a stand off at that point, until either their teamates in the sky kills you off the field, or your teamates kill the other guy off the field. Hopefully, you are with team mates, that work together as a team and notices you, and him on the field, and some cover and protect you (keeping their guys off you) while another goes for the the other guy on ground while you hold it..

CTA is my favorite team play, and it most definitely a team effort. Unfortunatly, there are on line players that simply do not understand that concept.. But, there are just as many on line that do.. You just need to find the guys that understand it, and play as a team..

Thanks for the info and the gameplay tactics, I landed and stayed put for the entire remaining part of the game but the downside was that the other team just nosedived and took me out on the earlier landings, still great fun!
