Default How do you feel about... ?

..the controls?

I've been completely blown away by these screens and reviews. I'm planning on getting a copy for the PS3.

I've played IL-2 1946 for a good time now, and I'm wondering how this compares to that game.

What are the controls like in realistic and sim mode? Can I use my USB saitek for this game? I don't mind but I'd rather just use the controller. If anyone can give me some feedback on the control setup of this game in different difficulties, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum.
I like everything about realistic and sim mode. Mostly everybody dislikes the look around feature on the control pad because you have to click down on the right stick to look around, and if your thumbs lets off of the click just a little bit you will be moving the rudder or the throttle, but the devs have listened and will be implementing a option so you can customize the layout.

1946 is more of a sim but I think it surpassed the original game because it is absolutley beautiful.

And getting it for the ps3 you will be able to use a mouse for free look, use pc flight sticks, and be able to control the deadzone for the sticks after the title update.

Quote:
Common for all platforms:

Controls remapping (custom layout).
Changed MP kills scoring system. Suicide will always reduce score; crash (or bailout) soon (one minute) after signifficant damage will score to shooter; crash (or bailout) after 12 seconds after being hit even lightly will score to shooter.
Brakes with flightstick fix.
(For Arcade& realistic) RS will look around with 'half pressed' target camera trigger.
More effective flak.
Blackouts and redouts on realistic/simulation back again.

PlayStation3 only:

Screen-tearing fixes.
PC flightstick support (with custom layouts).
Flightstick deadzone customization.
USB mouse support (for mouse look)

Thanks, trk29.

Sounds awesome. In realistic mode, is there an option to padlock your view on the enemy so that you can maneuver relatively freely?

There should be, Target View. No idea what button it is on PS3 though . It turns the camera towards your target. It can be pretty disorientating though. There's also an arrow to indicate where your target is.

Meh, shouldn't be too disorientating to me.
I'm used to staring at the enemy during maneuvers in IL-2, though I used view keys rather than padlock.

I am eastern standard time NC USA. I play during the day between 8a.m. and 5p.m. during the week. And nights from about 10p.m. to ?

With my job i am off a lot during the week so I play more during the day than I do in the evening.

I play realistic and sim. I have been playing more sim lately because more of my squad and random people are starting to transition over to sim now.

Feel free to add me.
