Default Not Sure Whether It can be Called a 4.10 Bug

In IL2 versions prior to 4.10m, the default nose cannon of the Bf-109 G-10 and G-14 was the MK108, but in 4.10m the default was changed to the MG151/20. I guess it was probably for historical accuracy. Yet it has caused big problems in playing old *.ntrk tracks.

When you play, say, a 4.08 ntrk file where there are Bf-109_G-14's or the first person pilot is flying this plane, the MK108 which was actually being used during the track recording is now MISSING, and all the one-hit kills of the 30mm cannon now become the absurdity of the one-hit kills of the 20mm cannon.

The screenshot below is from a 4.10.1 playback of an online track where the Bf-109 G14 was actually using the MK108.

Any words from Daidalos Team? I would like to know your stance on the issue. Thanks.

My idea is that the default nose cannon of the G-10 and G-14 ought to be set back to the MK108 in the 4.11 patch, leaving the MG 151/20 as an option. Anyone who dislikes the Bf-109's MK108 can choose the 20mm that they like, and they only have to do it once in their IL2 - only once, since their choice is automatically saved after being made. A note can be added to the new patch's Readme, explaining that the default nose cannon change results from the need for IL2 1946's own integrity.

Hope you think that is logical, too.

I think that had something to do with Eastern Front aircraft (which didn't carry the MK 108 ) and DCG/DGEN which usually sets the loadout as 'default' for AI aircraft.

But hey, now you/your friend in that track just became a way better shot.

It's a little inconsistent but is it changing the outcome of the NTRK (it shouldn't if it works the way I think it does)? If it isn't (and maybe even if it is)... it seems like the problem isn't a very big one. It just makes some older tracks slightly out of date.

It's not as bad as when the IAR's got a huge weapons update (back pre-AEP days). That caused all sorts of hilarity.

Yes, the outcome of the ntrk is being changed.

What do you mean exactly?

Was an aircraft that was shot down by a 30mm cannon now flying and continuing to fight?

I think he means that planes are going down with just one 20 mm hit, and it looks funny to him.

Yes. Also, the lead required for the 30mm is much larger than for the 20mm, so the first person shooting (of the new default cannon) seen in the 4.10.1m ntrk replay is all wrong in relation to how much lead is being pulled.

The NTRK format is a packet recorder. I can see a TRK file being messed up, but not an NTRK.

But it does not contain plane info, does it? So it would, like the OP describes, contain the info that plane A fires the cannon, where the shots go and which damage they do, but not which type of gun or ammo was used, wouldn't it?
