Default IL2 flightsim hobby gets serious

My IL2 hobby is getting too serious as time passes. I tend to like more for realism and even real thing. sorry it is kind of out of topic.
I do remember that I came up with one site that is for those who build their own planes and fly them. I guess they are some hobbyists one step above RC pilots . But I can't find this site anymore. It seems like I forgot it for good. Is there anyone who happens to know this kind of stuff since most of us are real pilots or real aviation hobbyist.

Start here http://www.kitplanes.com/
or Google for: kit homebuilt aircraft airplane plane

Read critique on an aircraft before you buy it. Some of these projects are really dangerous for your life if you are not a very experienced pilot.

Perhaps http://www.vansairforce.net/

They are Vans RV centric largely because they are the best kit-planes on the market. Very active forum with plenty of excellent stories. If only I had the time I would build one!
