Slightly improved textures ?

I'm trying to slightly improve textures but I can't decide is it really worth the effort. Original textures look pale and flat. Improved have more details visible (scratches on the armor plates and so) and more 3D (like semi bump mapping).
Screens taken from dark and sun lightened sights. Let me know what you think.

While you are at it, the lion_cruiser_player.dds texture needs to be fixed so it will work properly with Lion Cruiser MK1 and MK2... It highly annoys me that I cannot use the player texture on MK1 and MK2 lions because of the bugs.

but I would need to know the performance hit b4 I could say if its worth it or not

no performance hit, only look. Of course it's my personal taste so probably not everyone will like it.
I'm just working on these angorian fighters: in the middle original texture, on the right improved (and fixed guns removed for BigGun placement)
