Default I visited 1C Company @ gamescom today!

First: Sorry for any grammar, I am German so English is not my native language!
I went to the gamescom today, the biggest European games convention and I had a chance to play 2 more different single-player levels of Il-2. It was absolutely awesome! At home I already played the two demo levels over and over again (with my flight-stick....but this will not be another flight-stick thread, I promise ;-P) and I was blown away by the other two missions I was playing today....with a controller of course. One mission with this "tiny" Russian plane and one with a Spitfire over the canal. It was very cool to see those birds in action, even on a small screen. I just can't wait for the game. I also had a short small-talk with one of the guys in the yellow shirts. He was very nice and calm, friendly, a cool guy, dunno his name. But I forgot to asked about issues regards German cockpits or a patch for the sticks, damn, I am such an idiot sometimes. So yeah, thats pretty much it. Boring I guess, I liked it....

Some proof:

By tiny russian plane you mean the I-16.

Trust me, you can fool a lot of noobs to turn-fight you online with that sucker and get some easy kills.

Mixed blessing. A skilled player will just BnZ you without you being able to reply, but it has to be said there are more noobs than skilled players out there.

Which is why MP is going to be hit and miss for a while. It's going to be fun to know the last thought of the noob before he respawns is, "Where the hell did he come from?!" Still... I relish the challenge, so hopefully it will pick up soon.

I think that is the I-16 version with 2 20mm cannon and 2 7.62mm MGs. More than enough firepower to kill fighters, and the cannon have a lot of ammo.

Actually my knowledge of the I-16, is that it only had 4 Machine-guns. I don't think they ever equipped the I-16s with cannons, but they could have on the Biplane versions: I-152 (Something like that?)

But I meant the part in your post, where the noobs outnumber the vets That's what I meant by the massacre statement

EDIT: The I-16s did have 2 20mm cannons, but it didn't work well. That's the info I got about its statistics.

Didn't the I-16 Type 17 have cannon? I'm sure there is a cannon equipped I-16 in the PC Il2s, and the shot I've seen of an I-16 showed it shooting with what looked like cannon.

Anyway, a small number of wolves and a lot of sheep when it comes to online, though I suspect most of the noobs are going to stick to Arcade and Realistic.
