Default How do you turn on 'Radio Berlin'...

Hi Everyone,
I was looking around for the way that you can turn on 'Radio Berlin', 'Radio Paris', 'Radio Roma'... etc.

Thanks for the assistance!
Cheers,

A number of things are required for the radio:

The difficulty option "Realistic Navigation" needs to be on.

You need to make sure the mission you're playing actually has a radio tower for the station you'd like to play.

You'll also need to supply your own music. IL2 is very picky about what it will play, you'll need to convert MP3's to RIFF header WAV's.

When all that is taken care of, check the control assignments for next/previous beacon and map them if necessary. Use those keys to select the desired radio station.

If you need more info, check the guide for 4.10.

You might be able to find files for this at Mission4Today. I have a folder full of them somewhere but you basically drop wav files into corresponding folders ie. old BBC recording in the London folder, German propaganda radio in the Berlin, and so on... quite cool in the airplanes that support it.

I use WaveMP3 to "convert" MP3's. This tool makes it very simple to do so, as you can simply drag and drop your files.

You may notice some MP3's don't play, they'll leave an error in the IL2 console and get skipped over.
I had a large number of files with this problem, and as it turns out they all have one thing in common: They are encoded in "Joint Stereo" instead of regular stereo.
IL2 cannot handle the former, so you will have to re encode your MP3's.
Audacity can do this, though it's a cumbersome solution.
Encoding MP3 to MP3 will result in sound degradation. Though the engine noise in flight should make that largely irrelevant.

Note that files will be played in alphabetical order. IL2 can theoretically play in random order, but that function doesn't actually work.
You can however skip songs in flight by opening the console and typing "music PLAY STOP".

Follow this guide and good luck,

http://www.mission4today.com/index.p...kid=625&page=1

Pay attention to the date setting in the mission and the folder structures.

I have it working fine after setting the mission date to 1/1/1940 and the radio folders to 1940XXXX

Here's some converted MP3 files Russian and German WW2 period music that work for testing etc to save you time searching the internet.
