New 1946 Install & Win 8

My 1946 disk arrived from Amazon today and so I had to drop everything and install it. I have a new computer system that came with Win8 which I have been setting up. I already have CLoD installed in the normal x86 program directory which did not run until I used sKYo's fix from these forums. Runs very well now.

A number of members here said to install 1946 in a directory outside of the main "Program" directories so I figured I would take that advice. Autorun seemed to want to run then didn't. Manually starting the Setup App brought up the usual "Do you want to allow......" screen. Yes. Then nothing.

I was getting a bit concerned when I finally double clicked the file simply named "a" and ran that. Finally the "Installshield Wizard" for 1946 popped up and after giving it the name of the directory I had created we were off..............

This game took a long LONG time to install. Progress stayed on 0% for so long I almost gave up. But eventually it started to increase ever so slowly. Finally it finished and the program ran and as hoped ran very fast with graphics etc set to high. I didn't see the version number but assuming it's 4.07 to start.

I have downloaded and saved the series of patches but someone here suggested playing around with the stock install for awhile before getting into the patches. I took at look at the various manuals in the install directory. More docs then CLod for sure. 459 pages on aircraft models alone. Wow !

That's it to start anyway

Edit: So far I have installed the patches through 4.10m one at a time and running the program plus flying a quick mission in between each install. The correct version num showed on the start screen each time and everything looked and ran well. I also installed the "4.09 skins" pak before the 4.10 patch.
