Default Is there anyone in the forums that has C.o.D running successfully on Windows 8

I'm thinking about installing windows 8 as a dual boot option but I need to know if anyone has "Cliffs" running on W8. Most of the posts that I can find say "NO" and a lot of information I can find says W8 is a complete flop with most games. I've found that .net 4.5 is ok as I'm running that on my W7 install wihout problems. At some stage in the future support for XP/ Vista / W7 will cease and we will all have to learn the new system. It also sounds like a lot of gaming developers don't like W8 at the moment, this is reminiscent of the crys about "Vista" after its launch, yet I never had any problems with it.

It will do you no harm to stick with 7 and will also save you some money.

Interesting to read, out of the 10 titles one was broken (Sleeping dogs). Otherwise performance was 'almost' identical between win 7 and win 8.

10% might not sound like much but it adds upto a lot of worried developers out there at the moment.

Cheers for the link.

I don't see any real need to use Win8 on my home system right now, but thats just me.

What I am interested in however is what the simluation developers of today are deciding to do over the next few years. Because I think we're in a similar time when MS-DOS was the choice for gaming and then Windows 95 was released. As we all know MS-DOS died off in a few years.

If critcal mass is reached i.e. enough users flocking the new WinRT/8 UI, developers will be forced to sell thier games through the Windows App Store. This will spell the end for the likes of STEAM because under their App Store policies, an application is not allowed to install an executable, which is basically what STEAM does. This is why STEAM is moving to Linux and they're devloping their own Linux based gaming console.

Is it possible that Linux will become the OS of choice for flight sims?
