Dear All,
I have had CloD for some time now but have only played offline. today I had a play with the mission builder and thought that I would try to recreate the scene in BoB where a group of Spitfires are "Bounced" by 109's and poor old Canfield buys it. I played around with the settings and rapidly discovered why most fighter pilots in BoB were in their late teens or early 20's and not over 60 like me. I found that it was virtually impossible for me to see the German fighters coming in and only saw them as they flashed by and the chap next to me blew up. The sun blinds you, the clouds (and ice) make it far worse and after several attempts to survive which I managed twice, after at least 10 attempts the second time was with a burning spluttering engine and a crash landing at Manston (and an extremely dry throat!!).
All I can say is if those men went up day after day facing that they were better men than I and I will always be gratefull for their sacrifice. At that moment I said in my mind.........."They just fell on us.....they got my number two........and the CO"!!!
Given time, this game I am sure will grow into a masterpiece if it is'nt already
The poor bastards!
Best regards,
Pike.

I know what you mean...a few weeks ago I was low and slow looking around. I caught a glimpse of an aircraft going by to come around on my tail...was really a sinking feeling knowing I had few options and this was the end. I can only imagine the horror those boys felt in RL

That is what this game is all about.

Kind of reminds me of playing some b17 intercepts coops back in the years. A flight of 8 Me109G6 with Gunpods facing 15xB17 and 8xP51. A hopeless fight. We never engaged the "little friends" and just picked our targets. A well placed headon MK108 burst tore 1/3 of the formation in pieces. After that it was run or get killed by a P51. A hard and even stressful experience, but how satisfying overall.

The sortie about hunting a flight of Spitfires may be realistic when they are viewed aagainst a sea background, but agains ground it gets close to impossible to spot aircraft below you.

Similar flights were getting jumped daily in a winter Russian campaign by Emil/Friedrich flights. Against white color reds are easily visible. Such flights got devastated with LW virtual pilots getting high streaks.
