Until recently, I've been running Il-2 modded to 4.10.1. Now I've updated through 4.13. Therefore, I am not familiar with the features added beginning with 4.11. Three features in particular puzzle me:
1. Stationary plane spawning - I've read the 4.11 guide numerous times. Not only do I fail to understand how to employ this feature, I'm not even sure what it is. 2. Home base - I believe this is connected with the spawning feature, but there are a slew of options to choose from when home base is selected and I haven't a clue how to use them or what they do. 3. Taxiing to runway - I have figured this one out, sort of. I can create a single mission which includes taxiing. However, I generally create QMB missions, and when I try to create a taxi start, the other planes in a flight "spawn" miles away from the runway and certainly don't taxi anywhere. Is this feature not compatible with QMB missions? Can anyone possibly explain these feature to an idiot like me or point me to a tutorial of some sort? Thanks. Look in www.mission4today.com. Full mission builders guide.
In fmb there is a show all menu in filters section, this shows taxi path in white, spawn or take off points in green. If you place a stationary plane as scenery you must allow clearance for the taxi path or ai planes will collide. You can set a player plane as a spawn or start point for taxi to takeoff by plotting from spawn point to runway. Also look for dedealos team on YouTube as well as kiwi boggles fmb guide. N |

Thanks for your reply. But I'm still lost as to how to, in effect, "connect" the player aircraft to a stationary aircraft to use as a spawn point. Also as noted on some maps (not all) when creating a QMB mission, the other planes in the flight appear miles from where the player aircraft appears even though there are no obstacles between the first taxi point and the takeoff point. Any advise would be great. Thanks. |

2. Home base - This option is used only for Dogfight maps. So, if you are making a Single, Coop or QMB mission it will not do anything.

Taxiing to runway involves using taxi waypoints. Basically you set your flight's first waypoint, set it to takeoff, drag the takeoff waypoint to somewhere on an apron somewhere and then you change the type of waypoint settings to taxi. You'll create a whole bunch of taxi waypoints till you're out on the runway and then it'll go. If you're not sure what to do... have a look at the SB-2M-100 single mission included in 4.12. I made that as a demo of what you can do fairly simply with the taxi waypoint system including multiple flights and collision checking.

Thanks all. I now understand the Home Base fuction and realize that it is not intended for single offline missions, QMB or otherwise. When I saw this option I hoped that I could create missions in which AI aircraft would spawn after enemy aircraft intruded into the "air space" in the radius around the base. Alas this is not the case.
As to the taxing issue I have got that figured out but for some maps on which I create a QMB scramble mission. As noted, the AI aircraft will spawn far away from the runway even though proper taxi points are set up. Again this happens sometimes but not on all maps. |
