Default Looking for active pilots

We are a flight wing of 5 active, average skilled pilots looking to expand our ranks. We play almost every evening at around 10pm EST on a private server. We typically dogfight, but fly co-ops and race on occasion as well.

We use Mumble for voice comms, and play IL-2 1946- 4.12.2 un-modded.

Our ages currently range from 30-70, but all mature individuals are welcome.

The environment is casual and friendly. Skill is not a concern.

If you are interested in joining us, even casually, please post below or PM me.

I am also happy to answer any questions you might have about us.

Thanks for asking, that is important.

We fly close to full real. Closed cockpit, realistic engine management, we do allow your own icon to be on map, padlock and speedbar are allowed, we generally use icons, other than that it's full real.

We are more about having fun than trying to be hardcore, so settings are negotiable. We all pretty much like to keep it as real as possible, but make up for the fact that we are constrained to a game. In real life you can squint your eyes and focus distances better, where you can't in the game. So icons are allowed to account for this. etc, etc.

If you're interested at all, check out our website: http://spartans191.guildlaunch.com. Not all parts of the site are viewable to non-members, but you should be able to get a good feel for who we are.

How many are still flying 1946 vs Cliffs of Dover?

Many hundreds of the best IL2 pilots have been flying this sim for the last 13 years with no icons on hard settings. I regularly practice with a squad that has three 70 year old men flying with no enemy icons every week. Yeah, they have a hard time of it but so did WWII pilots, and I give anyone flying with no or limited icons a lot of respect, they are the real IL2 pilots and simmers in the IL2 community.

It is much more historically accurate to fly with no icons as if you read first-hand accounts in WWII you will note that the pilots had varying degrees of competency and ability of which eyesight was just one aspect.

Attaching large colored arrows and banners to all the aircraft flying around changes IL2 from a flight sim into a game.

At the very least you should fly friendly icons only so you don't destroy the historical fact that most of the aerial kills in WWII the victims never saw coming. Limited friendly icons are better, especially if they are cut down to half a kilometer or less so you have to learn to I.D. aircraft by silhouette again as real pilots had to do historically in WWII.

No need for that, it's who he is ... and he's already been 'banned', so... it's all good.
