How to "correctly" take off & land???

Hey all just reinstalled the game after a cpl month hiatus, got the patches all in & command options "somewhat" setup. My question is, is there anywhere where i can a self explanatory post "or better yet" a video clip showing how to take & get your plane airborne & land as well??? The game is so realistic that i'm under the understanding that it involves quite alot just to get airborne, i must admit (sheepishly) that i've always just used auto-pilot to get airborne/land or even play on servers that put you in the air automatically. Need help on this please, thanks in advance.
