Is there a way to time the anti-personnel grenades so that they explode on impact?

Seems like only the anti-tank grenades do this...

Yes. While in direct control, have your soldier equip a AP grenade, point to where you want it thrown, and hold down the left mouse button. 2.5 seconds usually does the trick.

I love cooking grenades....it will KILL a whole squaad if u airburst it instead of throwing it, letting the guys dive and only barely scratching 1 or 2 dudes....+D

If I have time I usually spread my guys out, 3 in every ditch or crater I can crawl in. No whole dead squad with one grenade. Usually I don't have time for all this though, as back behind those lines there are two M114s firing, tanks and infantry moving up to engage me.
