Default Tracer ammunition colors per country

Hello all,

I was wondering if countries where using a specific colors for bullet tracers.

For example, in most games german aircraft seem to use light blue color.

So, is there effectively a color per country? If yes, what are they?

This reminds me of the old "The Sisterhood" song called "Finland red, Egypt white"... An excerpt from it:

"...Standard markings, fool model PS, no colour.
Tracer model T-four-five, green tip.
Eight B I model BZ, black and red tip.
Incendiary model T, type Z, red tip.
Special cartridges, plastic, blank with metal case,
Finland red, Germany black, Egypt white. "

Yes that is the actual lyrics

That is wrong.

For example on the Luftwaffe side there were red, yellow, white, orange and seldom green tracers. All depending on the ammunition type.

It really depends on a multitude of factors. It depends on what kind of planes you run into. The only green tracer in the game is found on the Russian .30 cal. Later Russian planes didn't have them. The UB 12.7mm has white tracers, the Russian 20mm's have red and yelow tracers.
The germans in game have red for .30cal, blue for 13mm and 20mm and yellow for 30mm guns.

You can't exactly identify planes by the tracer collor but it helps once you know how the tracers look.

Maybe someone has a link to a accurate website?

Thank a lot already for delivering these information, since I have no idea where to look in internet. Google didn't help me much!

Japan has .303 that are red in the Ki-27 and in bomber turrets, but yellow on all other fighters. There is a .50 cal which is blue, seen on late war Zeros. Early war .50 cals in Ki-43s and Ki-61s are yellow. 20 mm are yellow, but are blue in the latest Ki-61. 30 mm are yellow.

Allied aircraft have red .303s and .50 cals, and yellow 20mm Hispano.
