Default Whirlwind over Vietnam : made on IL-2's code or not?

Well as above, was Whirlwind over Vietnam made using parts of Maddox games code for IL-2 , or did G5 write (all of) the code themselves?

I know this doesn't belong here perse...but figure it's the best place to get a correct and possibly even a moderaters answer.
Reason I ask is because a friend is convinced it was made on Il-2's code, while all I can find is that it was published by 1C in the USA but seems to be developped independently by 5G.

Anyone who can clear up this mystery for us?
Would be more tempted to try it out if it does (partly) use IL-2 code.

I believe there were some interactions, yes.

According to this article, WhirlwindOverVietnam is made by the producers of IL2, but I think they are rather refering to 1C than Olegs team himself:

There are several games that have borrowed parts of IL2's basic engine.

This game has genuine engine. It was done within 1C, but by a different team. It could be, that there was some interaction and technology exchange, but on rather minimal scale.

Microsoft states it's not compatible with Vista/Win7:

The MS compatibility status only indicates that the product has either not been tested or not passed the "Certified for Windows Vista" tests, and that the publisher lists no special actions to run the program in Vista.

Il-2 1946, for example is listed as incompatible, while it lists Il-2 stock as compatible with actions.

That's true for Microsofts pure recommendation.

But since you already searched for IL-2, you've probably also seen, that there are multiple recommended actions directly from UBISOFT to overcome possible issues. There are no user- or publisher-recommendations for Whirlwind over Vietnam, though.

So I guess it makes a difference after all?
