Default p51 garbage

Slow and weak...

two things this plane was not.

Its sad how wrong this game got this plane, in other games (mainly PC) They atleast make the plane fast so it was atleast worth using, in this game they made this plane complete garbage.... it sucks

maybe one day they will make a patch to do this plane justice.

there is no way a spitfire should out run this plane, or even 190 for that matter

Well, as I understand it, BoP is still using the Il-2 engine, which was optimized for a much lower, slower flight regime, as well as the unitank fuel system. The P-51D is really best when it's high, fast, and the seat tank is empty, none of which really work well in the current engine. I suspect we will have to wait until the BoB engine before we have a good P-51.

Addendum: It would be interesting to see how an Allison Mustang handled in the Il-2 engine, though.

One thing in its favour its got

the WEP of the GODS

i read P51's could handle long periods of WEP during real flights so tried it on a training mission and had it on for a good 5 minutes without stopping.

Got atleast 6 minutes out of it a second time and hit 630kph in level flight at 4000m (simulation mode).

Playing Sim the other day, in a Spit I reached a dive of 523 mph, without the plane breaking up, I simply ran out of sky
