Thumbs down I hate this game (sorry)

Wow, where can I start?

After reading the developer's suggestion topic, and playing the demonstation version of this game on my PS3, to say I am not impressed is an understatement.

This game pretty much takes out 90% of what is in IL-2 Sturmovik, and tries to compensate that with pretty graphics. Which is a real shame, because I was really looking forward to a next-gen dogfighting simulator game for my console.

This game is silly... It's just another stupid Secret Weapons over Normandy or Pacific Heroes or whatever the hell those daft dogfighting games were called.

It sounds to me that this game is rushed and the final product is INCOMPLETE. I mean seriously, only SOME of the planes will have cockpits? You already know what all the plane cockpits look like after doing a hundred or so of them in the previous game.

I couldn't even select realistic or simulation mode in the demo, so I decided to give the arcade mode a try just for the hell of it. The arcade mode is just silly, with Spitfires flying at speeds that an ME-163 Komet could do (not too far off from the speed of sound). Shooting down an entire fleet of He-111s that apparantly have blind gunners. Which just reminds me of playing Space Invaders.

There are many aspects of the old IL-2, which have been removed for reasons that go beyond me and give only bad impressions on the game.

- Crash landing. It just doesn't exist. If you even try to belly land a healthy plane on the ground, be prepared for a big KABOOM. It's like there's a self destruct system installed to stop pilots from trying to save their own lives.

- Controls. Looking round the cockpit is awkward as hell. Buttons should be mappable. And why can't I turn off my engine? Hurr durr.

- Custom difficulty! Maybe I'd like a full simulation mode but keep the names of planes above them. The triangle round them adds way too much to the screen by the way.

- Take offs and landings! From what I heard, you'll be starting off in the sky a lot and if you complete a mission, it'll end before you land? It was very cool in the old IL-2 how you could just go and land in your own territory then quit the level when you want.

I could go on further, but I think ya'all get the picture.

Look, I know I've been very harsh. I guess I just got excited for this game and was totally let down. I understand that you want to try and reach out to the many gamers who are rubbish at challening (sim) games. But the old fans of IL-2 Sturmovik and their passion for the game is pretty much what made all this possible, and now you left them in the shadows. I really doubt more than 5% of the suggestions would be implemented into a patch any time soon. I think I'll give this game a miss. This game had potential to be the best simulator on a console, right after the multi-million selling Gran Turismo .

Listen, you damn fool, why would you bother posting this if you didn't even try the higher difficulties? They are unlocked after completing the tutorial. Everything in your post is WRONG bar the free look comment. Do some research. This is the kind of post that should be on Gamefaqs, not the official forum. Go away.

The Russians have a way of twisting arms, ...right now the end of my pinkie is being squeezed in a pair of vice grips.
Wait until you've tried the whole game, ...maybe you'll wind up sitting on your thumb.

Try unlocking Simulation difficulty before you start posting anything about it and pretty much everything you said up there is FALSE.(If you don't like the free look, buy a flight stick.) The game was not rushed. They started on it in 2006.

And if you hate the game or don't like it, please leave it at that.
