Question Bombers in MP

I was wondering, if we're flying a bomber online, say if we're playing Strike for instance, will there be AI to control the gunner positions? Or are we going to be completely at the mercy of our teammate's skills as escorts?

The bombers have to be flown from a third-person viewpoint, lacking cockpits, and all the guns are controlled by the player from this position.

So all gun positions are tied together by the same targeting reticule? (assumeing there are more than one gunner positions)

Yes, though of course to fire they have to be able to bear on your target. If the programming is smart, any guns that can't engage the target you are aiming at will fire on targets independantly.

lol, hopefully. it would be kind of strange if you pulled the trigger and all guns fired at once.

Funny to watch though.

You will hit a button to change to the rear gunner and the plane will start to fly level being flown by AI.

That's what I was thinking it would be. It would've been fun to get a teammate on each gun (preferably with a mic) and have a fully manned bomber though.

I can't wait to fly the bombers, favorite class of plane.

That would effectively leave you with 1 bomber vs 8 fighters. Not a pretty sight, because even one fighter is usually more than a match for a bomber. That idea could be quite fun for Co-op though, and if Birds of Prey could match Il2 1946's 64 player server limit it would be even better. Still, bombers should be good fun to use.
