I've been playing the demo on the Xbox 360 and am loving it,.just have a quick question...when you destroy a plane..why do they all escape in parachutes?..is this gonna be in the final product?..surely..everytime you destroy a plane the pilot/crew wont escape?....right??..

Probably has something to do with ratings.
A sim that depicts pilots actually dying when you pump them full of lead and explosive cannon rounds would be unacceptable. Kids should learn that war is fun and painless right? Damn right! |

When they are close enough to the ground they won't bail
![]() Also Anton stated somewhere that for bomber crews (I guess you talk about the He-111 in the demo) had a higher chance of survival compared to fighter pilots who were literally sitting behind the engine. Another question would be if you can shoot the parachuters ![]() |

Yeah, I was pretty disappointed when I figured out I couldn't shoot the enemies parachutes up and watch them fall the rest of the way to their deaths. That was always fun to do in IL 2 Sturmovik: 1946. Also, if you ran into the parachutes, you could damage your aircraft which I though was pretty sweet.
The enemy also had to wait until it was safe enough the actually jump out and not hit the plane in the PC version, I'd shoot some planes down, and you'd see the canopy go flying, and see the plane spinning, and once it looked clear and safe, then the pilot would make the jump. Now it doesn't even matter, its just an instant bail. |

I really hope in the final product, you can shoot the falling pilot/crew members while they hang in the sky with their parachutes. And that some won't escape.

Protocol I, Article 42 of the Geneva Conventions explicitly forbids attacking parachutists who eject from damaged airplanes, and surrendering parachutists once landed

Never tried to shoot falling pilots or crew, and never wanted to, so I'm glad you can't shoot people on parachutes.
It isn't true that all the crew of a shot down plane will automatically escape, because members can die when the plane is under fire, or blows up before they can get out, and if the plane is too low down they won't be able to jump anyway. |

Also many pilots did not escape the plane itself because of something called centrifugal force. |
