Default A question from a sim noob

Hi there, been keeping my eye on this game for a good few months now (it has sleeper hit written all over it) and getting into Flight Sims has always been something I've wanted to get around to, but never got around to building myself a decent pc.

So I'm very glad this is coming out for the ol'360, now the arcade option doesn't really appeal to me, so I'm looking for some advice as to how best prepare myself for going into the sim style.

Should I get a joystick? Is there any (affordable) flight sticks you would recommend that are compatible with the game?

Do you guys think the learning curve might be too steep to go straight into sim? Or is it a case of practice makes perfect?

Cheers.

The way I see it there are only two real flight sticks that will work with BoP on the Xbox360.

I am getting the Saitek Aviator which is only $59.99 new.

The Ace Edge flight stick is a little hard to come by since they were only available for a limited time and can be worth over $141.

Does anybody know if the Aviator can be easily used left handed?

Yes, it's not a right handed specific design. The throttle is on the back, not the side. The front plate has buttons for d pad, shoulder buttons and sticks. Kind of awkward no matter what really. The stick itself is straight.

Get a Saitek Aviator. Saitek aren't the best sticks around but it will work on PC, PS3 and 360 and its a good entry level stick.

That's wrong! There is no stick which will work for all systems!

Aviator for Xbox 360 & PC

Aviator for Playstation 3 & PC

I think there is a good flight stick from Thrustmaster, which works with the PC and PS3 too:

T.Flightstick Hotas X

But we don't have a confirmation from Anton, whether these sticks will work with BoP. I would wait to buy one of these sticks, until we haven't got any affirmation.

Need to get that T Flightstick on the 360. The Aviator alone isn't much of an option. It's ok but build quality and button layout aren't so great. Blows my mind the Ace Edge isn't sold on it's own here.
