Vista 32 bit and IL2 1946

I am running vista 32 bit,after a reboot,, i installed 1946 from the a.exe to a folder i made on C:/games,,, downloaded the 4.08m patch,, installed to the same folder,, reinstalled HL,, then made adjustments to my graphics settings,, I then fired up il2,, put in the ip for a known crt1 server,, put in the correct password when prompted,,,,, and wham,, reason timeout 1,, I tried many times,, then made a change in the il2 game for network,, it was set to cable by default,, changed it to isdn,, tried again,,, and no kidding,, i was flying on the known crt1 server,,,, i flew for some time,,,, stopped the game,, opened up HL and tried another server i know runs CRT,,,,,, no luck,, still time out 1,, left HL,, went right back into the game alone and tried to reconnect with the first known crt1 server,, mind you, I didn't make any changes at all,,and back to the same,, no connect reason time out 1.
at best guess,,, vista is rewriting something in il2, that is picked up as a mod or cheat,, I put the 1946 disk in and did an uninstall,, deleted remaining folders,, uninstalled HL,, and reinstalled 1946 again,, patched to 4.08m didn't even reinstall HL, same graphics setup,, tried again,, no go,, reinstalled HL,, tried again,, no go,,,, now I am stuck here with the same prob,,,,,, the game runs smooth, the graphics are very nice,,, but i cant connect to a CRT setting other than 0.
I know I omitted some steps in my story,, but I did repeat every step from the first successful attempt,, it didn't work a second time. If any one has any ideas? I know other pilots are running vista 32 bit with little to no problems.. Thank you for your time.
