I would imagine that since many years and many dollars have been invested in CLoD it has some value to someone and 1C won’t keep it in the trash bin forever. It’s all about the money. 1C made the decision that they needed to generate dollars as quickly as possible with the IL2 brand and partnering or selling it to 777 was the best solution. My fear is that we are going to wait 16 months to get a reboot of the original IL2 Sturmovik. It will work out of the box, have better graphics but will not come close to the photo-realistic images in CLoD. The interesting part will be if 1C is willing to sell something that competes with their product. Who knows…we may have lost one flight sim but gained two or more others in the process. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Well, they are saying that no-one wants the game engine, as it's too buggy. So maybe it will be available for some interested party.
I would certainly buy it if I had any money. I wish I did. At the moment it feels like we lost all the hidden features that we would have gotten when computing power allowed for their implementation, and all the developments planned for release along with BoM (weather, wind etc). They are in there somewhere!!!!!!!

Who knows, maybe they can milk ROF engine for a few years and in the mean time get the CLOD engine fixed and improved and then sell it to us again, as a new game, four-five years down the road.
