Default Crash issue questions

note: At random when I play (only once in battle, but every other time has been when traveling in the world) it will crash to the desktop for no apparent reason. There is no error report. Just a CTD that is unexplained. I have beaten the game once on normal (score of 1030, yay) and am now attempting impossible, but the crashing is a nuisance. It occurs anywhere between one hour to three hours of play.

1) Can crashes be caused by resolution? I played the other king's bounty games and had no crash issues, but I believe I used the default resolution. For WotN I am using the max resolution with max settings.

2) How much ram is this program allowed to use? This also might be causing my crash issues. If this game is only allowed a small amount, I have programs that will force the .exe file to use more ram (currently have one that makes programs which use 2gb to use 4gb instead) I have 16gb of ram available, how much ram I have is not the problem. Also, does this game have possible memory leaks? This could also cause a CTD with no error report.

3) Mentioned above, I am using max settings for graphics for the game. Are any of the settings linked to possible crashes?

sidenote: just tossing this out here to ask some people - when using goblins with catapult does the bomb (tier 3 adrenaline move) cause anybody else to crash when it is attacked and explodes?

Any input, thread linking, suggestions, etc is greatly appreciated.
