Default Weather and clouds and we are good to go

I don't agree those tens of whiners this game lacks what was promised. In so many ways of simulating fine grained systems of airplane this simulation has surpassed all what can be modelled today's approximation.

As an actual real life pilot, I wish sometime at very near future we will have weather, winds, clouds etc. which are actually all about of flying and making the flying challenging feature. I can live with low resolution graphics but what's destroys the realism is the lack of weather, wind gusts and cloud layers.

Agreed it will add a whole new aspect to the game with the new physics model that is far superior to the old IL2.

Just have to wait for the sequal...

The game shipped with a very good local weather generator, if you saved an earlier vershion try it out. Sometimes I will just sit in the plane and watch the thunderstorms generate and progress towards me. Really very very cool to observe, complete with lightning too, and they grow to quite a height. When you choose the dynamic thunder generator there are a few sliders to adjust to your liking as well. Expect a fps hit, but it is definitely worth it

The weather is still there guys:
1. Wind at different heights with different vectors, gusts angles, gust influence.
2. Dynamic clouds cumulus, overcast, flat overcast, overcast with breaks, thunder storm (no rain).
3. Even the windsock objects are dynamic & will point in the wind direction & extend proprtionaly with wind velocity.

I'm guessing the mission builders have not used it because they were producing vanilla missions in the 'early days' so as not to hit the fps. That was before the latest patches improved the fps & it's time the mission builders got to grips with this feature.

Believe me it works! The only significant issues are (a) the poor propeller icing model kiling planes as they go through clouds, & (2) whether low-end PC's will still get a fps hit making the game unplayable.

Great to hear, Salmo! You wouldn't perchance have a mission or two (just basic, nothing fancy) tucked away which has some dynamic weather effects in 'em? I'm willing to dive into the FMB to explore these features, but I'm not too savvy with the FMB and a pre-made mission would be a great place to start this exploration.

I noticed weather/wind options in the FMB, I thought they were turned off so I never really played with them. I think I'm gonna have to check this out & maybe brush up on my C# skills *cough*. I feel a mission coming on.

I wish the scripting used C++ though, I'm more familiar with that.

some cloud missions here
http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showpos...22&postcount=3

as a mission builder I'm using them- only thing is the airframe icing effect seems to be stronger in release than previously- even with thermal intensity set to zero

My current plan for campaign releases is to include cloud but have a folder of 'no cloud' missions for those who's rigs won't cope.

I'm afraid that it would not add very much to a mission, since it is not what it once was. Everything that made it so good to look at and feel, are no longer working or in the beta. Very, very few clouds are generated, no more thunder, no more towering growing upwards clouds. Plus there is still the pop up nature of the clouds, not very much fun to watch.

here are a couple of just born baby cells, just starting to grow & develop upward/outward... from the earlier game release
