Holla guys
![]() Just thought id share with ya's, i finally finished my new build yesty afternoon (specs below) that id built to run clod, so since i had a little bit of spare time tonight i thought id do a bit of benchmarking with the black death track ![]() I did the test under 4 different conditions, 2 with HT on, one test was with SSAO on, the other with SSAO off, and the other 2 tests with HT off, one with SSAO on and the other with SSAO off. For each test all the settings were on their highest, the results are as follows ![]() HT on - SSAO on: Min - 8 Max - 172 Avg - 61 HT on - SSAO off: Min - 8 Max - 161 Avg - 64 HT off - SSAO on: Min - 7 Max - 180 Avg - 64 HT off - SSAO off: Min - 5 Max - 205 Avg - 66 All in all, im over the moon, i cant get over how awsome it looks ![]() ![]() One thing should be noted thou - in regards to flying over london, if HT is on, there is a good amount of stutter, but with it off, it runs smooth as ![]() pic of the new beast for ya's ![]() ![]() p.s. im still waiting for the shop to get my extra 16gb of ram.... i only had 8gb when i was testing... but i dont think that would have too much of an impact |

S!
How about VSync On results? Those would be interesting to see as well. The SSAO offers little to nothing in IQ terms compared to the FPS hit it causes and stutter inrease. I disabled HT on my i7 too, seemed to cure a lot of things in games. Grass is the big stutter thing in CoD when you fly low. It is drawn as a "circle of LOD" around you like everything else (houses, tree shadows etc.). I keep it off as the grass is rarely seen anyway. Good for screenshots I guess ![]() A nice rig you got there though. I use 16Gb DDR3 in dual channel and hard to say if it did anything as I had 8Gb before. |

Hope you have another monitor than that Philips 19" too, or have one planned?
Otherwise I find it a real pity you didn't save a "bit" by buying a 2600K or 3770K instead of that 990x EE+periphirals and bought yourself a nice fat 27" with part of the savings. Anyting over 8GB of ram is rarely, if ever, used during normal operations aswell. Unless you are a professional benchmarker, 3d designer or video editor the extra money spent now to get 4 more FPS could easily have funded a massive upgrade or completely new build in a years time. Now maybe you plan to spend more money in 6months-1year time and then I haven't said anything...but for the regular user you can get more fps over a longer time by spreading your budget a little as PC-parts age faster than the human skin. Hi Warhound,
As the ram debate rages for eternity I noticed you commented on ram so I thought I would show what Desastersoft thinks of ram and Cliffs of Dover ![]() Recommended: •Quad-Core-Processor with at least 4 x 2,6 GHz (optimal: Intel i5 or i7 or comparable AMD processors) •8GB DDR2 RAM (optimal: 12GB DDR3 in triple / dual channel Mode)•GeForce GTX Graphics card with 1792MB DDR5 RAM or equivalent ATI Graphics card (optimal: SLI/Crossfire with 2 Graphic cards newest generation) •Mouse, Keyboard •Internet connection •Windows 7 (64 Bit) •IL-2 Sturmovik – Cliffs of Dover •We also recommend using a HOTAS system, rudder pedals and Track IR4+ / Freetrack I purchased another 8gb sence its so cheap now ![]()

Helrza : heh, If it's an upgrade and you got it at a massive discount it makes sense, just feared you had splashed crazy cash buying all of that stuff new.
![]() Borris : I dunno, think it's a case of them covering all possibilities (like people with horrible app infested pc's) so they don't get complaints later on. I've had firefox sapping 1gb with multiple tabs open, forgotten to close Football Manager which sapped another 1.5GB and still didn't get anywhere near 8GB of ram usage while having 150planes in the air during The Enlightened Florist's campaign. On the other hand 2Gb of Videoram get's sucked up easily by CLOD, yet they only advise 1.8GB..so that makes me doubt their specs even more. Nevermind their SLI/crossfire recommendation which causes microstutters in itself, as discussed in lenght by many hardware sites. In the end I guess 12gb could be useful in some rare and extreme cases, but for me anything you don't use fully right now is a waste in the PC business. Prices only drop and the tech advances too fast to make previous investments last. ...Sorry for derailing your happy thread Helrza , enjoy your new build and maybe you'll even shoot me down while I'm stuttering and you have silkysmooth FPS. ![]() |

Like HDDs did? and RAM a couple of years ago? If the price is low now, get it now, I say.
