What is the difference between a Flight "game" and a "sim" ?
If we keep this thread civilized and treat each other with respect this should develop into a great discussion. |

A Flight "Game" makes more compromisses for gameplay (action), a Sim tries to simulate the reality so exact as possible. But the between is very fluent.
Gajin is for me a producer of Flight Games, small maps, many action, you can not fly realistic if you want too (maps are to small). Eagle (Warthog A10) is a producer of Sims, can be work to get the Warthog to fly, you must train many hours to handle the plane. But you can fly in easíer mode if you like. |

I already answered you in the other post where you asked the same question:
A sim or simulator tries to be as realistic as possible in terms of machine performance and historical facts and usually is quite complex with a steep leaning curve. A game, is balanced more towards game play and enjoyability. Games usually fore go the more complicated matters for instant action and simplicity. Examples of a sim and a their game counter parts are: IL2 - IL2 wings of Prey Flashpoint / ARMA - Battlefield / Call of Duty |

This is a flight simulator
![]() I think the distinction comes more from how you use it. You could use COD as a game or as a simulator. Like ALL simulators there will be things that it's good at reproducings and things that it is less than accurate in simulating. Last edited by Skoshi Tiger; 06-04-2012 at 01:05 PM. |

I think most Cloders are simmers - ie pilots who relive, as much as possible, flying WW2 aircraft. If Clod was a game, I wouldn't be here. There's plenty of WW2 aircraft zap-bang shoot-em-up games out there.
I'm a simmer, as much as possible, not a gamer. .

You can put a game in a sim, but you can't put a sim in a game.

Game is for entertainment, sim is for education. Unless some crazy scientist figures it out how to travel back in time and you want to be prepared, every so-called "WW II sims" are just games.
