Nevertheless I have a recommendation. Take the i5 2500K because you can overclock it very easy via its multiplier...and it probably will overclock very good (somewhere around 4.5 GHz). Alexander |

Lol, there is nothing more to say? 4,5 GHz with watercooling or what? Please stay away from doing such comments. It is simply not standard to overclock it that way. But u are right: Intel did a good job on the 2500 or 2600k, but just saying: easy to overclock up to 4,5 GHz? Common, be fair! With air cooling boxed this is simply not possible.
I am also not into both cpus but I would also say 2500k. |

Most 2500k's will clock to 4.5 - 4.6 on air with no problems.

I personally would recommend the 2500k; I run my 2500k @ 4.2/1.30v for 24/7 but I've safely run it @ 5.1 with my air cooler (EVGA Superclock) with absolutely no problems. Even @ 4.5/1.35v I generally don't break 40c above ambient and I run my fan profile very quiet, it never usually spins above 1200rpm.
Edit: I just realized that was the V2 model you listed which is based on Ivy Bridge. If you are looking for an Ivy Bridge processor then I would recommend waiting on the i5-3570K, which should be around $225 (right around where the 2500k sits). Although you can never go wrong with the trusty ol' 2500k! Last edited by Al Capwn; 04-19-2012 at 12:17 PM. |
