Default How many poeple still fly IL-2 1946?

I bought IL-2 CloD in the Steam Christmas sale about 3 months ago and haven't looked back since.

And last week, for the first time in about 2 months I fired up the good old IL-2 1946.(Patched to 4.10.1) I was surprised at how dated the graphics looked, and how arcade-like the FM and DM and sound was compared to Clod.
It's weird because before I played Clod for the first time, I didn't notice any of those things about 1946 and thought it was great.

Since as far as I see, almost everybody who has Clod also bought 1946, I'm wondering:

How many Clod owners still actively play 1946?

And to those who don't play 1946:
Did you uninstall it, or do you have it installed but just don't use it anymore?

I agree on your analysis that it's unfortunate how dated IL2 1946 feels now after CloD as it felt so good before. At the other hand, thanks to all the patches over the years it's an amazing product that actually is almost perfect... If we just hadn't seen CloD and realized that it's getting old...

So now we have a teenager with a bit weird proportions, no manners and pimples all over the face while the old beauty is starting to look wrinkled and tired (even though Daidalos has used some new makeup to spice her up). I just hope the teenager blossoms into the beauty that is there. I will still keep on dating her mum so let's hope she doesn't find out

Thinking of that, I think it's time to go knock on the old ladies door tonight while waiting to see if the miracle pimple cream that MG is cooking will be done this week?

EDIT: And I miss two alternatives:

* I have both installed but while waiting for the patch I only play IL2
* I have both installed but play none as CloD has made 1946 feel so old and the online CTD bug makes playing CloD impossible so I hang out here wasting time in this forum looking for the Grail patch...

EDIT 2: And I would have voted for the last one if you wouldn't have reminded me of the old lady so tonight I'm off to try some IL2 online Thanks for that!

Default We were in love for many years!

Uninstalled

My new sim is just so much better in the air

If I still had my nvidia 7900gs or worse yet the card I started il2 with the 4600ti(the card that il2 killed lol) I might not be so giddy though.

I'm still playing 46 both as modded version and vanilla 4.11 as well as CloD. Until the problems with CLoD get sorted I'm getting more pleasure from 46. Have just installed RoF and have still to get to grips with the set up on this but there are things that I don't like about that at the moment either, maybe that will change when I have the controls fully sorted.

Mmm, those where the days... Amazingly enough I remember the GPU I first played IL2 on and it was an Nvidia Geforce 2 Ultra... Bleeding edge by then so I had none of the bad performance that many whined about then... Full circle then as a GTX580 is needed to enjoy CloD today

EDIT: Looking back in my rig-list I realize I did not remember it correctly as I swapped my Geforce 2 Ultra for a Geforce 3 in may 2001...

Option 3. Still have il2 installed, but fly only CoD now. Can't go back.

The first choice covers that.

Good one! I wish I could add that to the poll because it is many peoples experience, but It wont let me edit it now.

I bought Clod back in November. 6 hours played.

You can probably multiply that number by 10 when it comes down to 1946.

Especially since I installed HSFX 5.0, whoa, I (almost) rediscovered it.

Clod has potential. Sure. But that's it, only potential.

1946 + Mods is still, by far, the best. Of course, on some points Clod is better. But those points don't weight a lot compared to the overall superiority of IL-2 46.

All of my "flying" friends (and there's a lot of them) have been playing 1946 and / or RoF since they bought Clod. Technical flaws put aside, there's simply a huge gap of content between the two games (not totally blaming Clod, IL-2 1946 has been there for much more time, obviously).
