Default Tried on Win8 Dev Preview ??

Has anyone had success running CoD on the Windows8 "Developer Preview" ?
- I'm having no problem with IL2-1946 v 4.10.1m (avg 45+ fps Black Death track with only the on-chip video), & X-Plane 10 ( runs, but more slowly than CoD does on my Win7, 165 Opteron, 8GB Ram, HD4850 machine - when I used only the on-chip video in the new machine).
But I've tried 4 times to get CoD to run on this new machine where I've been playing with Win8 Dev. Preview and it just will never launch.
I've uninstalled & reinstalled twice from "the downloaded program", once from a backup of Cod on the Win7 machine.
No Launch - lots of hard drive activity for about 3 min and then nothing
-- Programs running in background - only Windows Defender
COD filed "verify" correctly and the cache is defragmented
System is ASRock A55-Pro3, FM1 A6-3650 processor, 8GB Ram, HD 6850, 600W OCZ PS,
- Thoughts ?
- I'd "assume" that it's something to do with Steam since IL2-1946 and X-Plane10 install and run only from DVD, but ...
- A "most current" successful uninstall/reinstall step-by-step in case I'm overlooking something out of frustration ?
