That's because the steam service was down. It happens from time to time and will not allow you to play online because of it.

Thanks for the answer.
Thing is that my friend was online at the same time.

I could join other MP games as well. Got up in the air with no problems.
Just when Im trying to create (host) my own game this happens..

Hope you can help me with more tips.

Were you trying to run 2 instances of the game at the same time?

That's usually the only other reason that error would come up. Like you were making a server and trying to join it through another copy of the game, etc. Check taskmanager etc., and make sure you only have one instance of launcher.exe running.

FoxerWilde -

I have had this happen to our server as well. About once every two weeks the server will not run with the exact problem you describe. It usually has some message that Steam is trying to sync with your game, but it seems to be frozen. I am usually able to host after about an hour or two.

I have a 2nd purchased game just for our server so I do not have conflicts with that. Not sure why Steam does this sync/lockout, but is sure is annoying.

If you are behind a router, you can host only in Lobby room. Maybe you can take care of all the ports mentioned in the Steam FAQ but not sure CloD also needs many ports forwarded. Maybe you need a good network specialist to set up gateway, DNS, etc. as mentioned in one of the links.

It's because the steam service is down for routine maintenance. Since we don't have dedicated server files and the game servers for IL2COD runs through steam similar to a client, this interferes with the server as well.

Sometimes the outage is not routine maintenance and is actually a steam server problem (aka - they had a problem), but either way the outages can all be monitored by looking at the steam forums. This can effect anyone in a particular region or all of the steam regions at once depending on the problem. But the clients are effected the same way as a server. I believe the client message, for instance, in trying to start IL2COD when this is happening is something along the lines of "The current game is not available now" or something similar. If you've managed to already have your game running when this problem takes place, then you'll get the message similar to what the console server box sees, if you're a client.

Default Thansk for the help

Thank you all for the help!
Iv'e been trying a lot of things, and none seemed to work.. until I verified the game cache in Steam. Then it suddenly worked.

Though it does not seem so stable, some times the connection problem appears again.

Well, I can play pretty well right now but I will post if the problem gets worse.
