Just a warning really, was having some odd glitches the other day so I decided to get steam to verify my game files, I've done this several times in the past with no issues whatsoever but this time it wiped out my conf files so I've lost all my control mappings and settings.
My fault for not backing them up but just be warned to do so if you ever run a file verification ![]()

================================================== ================================================== ========================== Also back up your new mission files if you have created any using the FMB. EG: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover\missions\Multi\Co-Op\New missions v104 This folder amongst others containing over 40 hand made missions was lost when Steam updated to v105, the update overwrote the missions folder and wiped the non standard folders in there. So backup your missions too. Last edited by KG26_Alpha; 12-21-2011 at 07:06 PM. |

Remember there are two locations, and some files get copied to both, but only used from one.. Basically the USER folder and GAME INSTALL folder, i.e.

I even deleted them to prove it to myself. Where as the *.ini & *.log files in your USER folder are used.. And those are the ones you want to make back ups of from time to time.

The game install folder shouldn't be used for any user created content or .ini files.
The correct folder as ACE-OF-ACES pointed out is Quote:
You can save your controls in game through Option/Controls, you can save different profiles for various tasks eg bombing, dogfights etc and load them into the game when required. |

You can delete the whole folder under C:\Users\<YOUR USER NAME HERE>\Documents\1C SoftClub\ it will be regenerated the next time you start Cliffs of Dover, this whole folder is kept stored and not necessary to keep safe. Last edited by KG26_Alpha; 12-21-2011 at 10:27 PM. |

But if you don't keep a copy of the *.ini files than you run the risk of loosing them to some sort of glitch like Dano had by depending on the STEAM Cloud to do it for him. I had the same thing happen to me that happened to Dano.. Which is why I started keeping my own backup too.
