I am building a new system, this time since i dont like the Nvidia cards out on the market right now i am planning on getting an ATI/Nvidia card Radeon 6850...
Now i have been using Nvidia Cards for the last few computers i have made...the problem is i dont like any of their new cards or the prices that go along with them...(i currently have an gtx450 1gb card, that i got from the warranty of a 8800gt however it is hard to gauge the effectiveness of my current GPU since the CPU is heavily bottle necking the system and GPU % usage generally stays low) so what are the pros/cons of ATI vs Nvidia...does this game still have that blue lines horizon bug....and other in general comments you guys have... (the only other game that i WANT to be able to play on the new build is arma2, so insite in to this would also be appreciate by me) PS is anyone else pissed about the prices of Hard disk drives?? at this point i am leaning towards just using the one from my current pc.. im on my way off studing a new pc.
i dont like ATI. i have ATI atm, and im preatty sure ill move to nvidea. why? bad drivers - i spent nearly a year playing 2 games, Americas Army and il2 1946. Every week a new driver. And every tiem a driver came out it was only comaptible with one of the 2 games. overral, ATI seems to be better: more powerfull, cheaper, better 2/3 screen support ( this is really really good indeed ), but in the end the drivers keep being a pain. based on my personnal experience. about the PS: not really. payed 80 euros for 1TB. i am using aobut 200 GB ATM. and probably will have a growth need of no more than a 100GB a year. S!
I use AMD GPU at the moment and I am happy with it. The "3 blue lines" described are not because of AMD drivers but IL-2:CoD coding. So blaming every glitch in CoD on AMD drivers is plain wrong. I would look at the issues again when Luthier and his team get the GFX engine sorted out. A thing to remember with AMD is to turn down Catalyst AI to Performance and tick OFF the Surface Optimization. Others leave to Application controlled and MLAA Off. Works for me. I use a 5MHz overclock on my card to make sure the 3D speeds kick in while playing CoD along with deleting/disabling the UBI logo. So far so good..but again this is because of CoD code, not drivers. I had nVidia earlier, up to 580GTX. Nothing bad to say..just the pricing. Because they are fast the price is in straight relation. Same can be said with Intel CPU's..as they are fastest at the moment they can ask any price they want..the one asking is not the stupid one but the one paying ![]() Anyways..choosing a GPU really boils down to your budget and preferences. I can say both AMD and nVidia produce good cards. |
