Question Are their KI Aces and how to identify them?

In offline campaigns, are there KI Aces, and if yes, how can I identify them? At the moment I am frustrated by a mission against a group of 6 P-39 which beat the heck out of my Me109-G6 and FW-190 friends (of course also because my friend-wings drop in by two planes every 2 minutes in the fight zone and thus are pretty outnumbered, dunno if their is much I can do about that than trying to time my appearance with at least one other wing), and there are two P-39s with no normal numbers, but one has the number 100 and the other 3 Letters similar to "PTA" (actually the T looks more like an upturned L) and I have the expression they are well above average. But that may be only imagination. Or are they aces?

That sounds very like one of the original IL*2 Sturmovik missions, which I remember from flying it for the soviet side. Yeah, they are pretty much aces I think (what does KI mean?), I think the 100 guy is slightly better than the other, but they both seemed to be much better than my squad mates, who typically got shot down by the 109s and 190s.

All the original game's missions are scripted. In the Forgotten Battles campaigns, missions are randomly generated, and any enemy aces that turn up are given names at the end of the mission if they were shot down (I think not names of real aces). You can tell Forgotten Battles campaigns, they have names like "*Fighter", or "*Fighter(Leningrad)" for the soviets, and "*Fighter (central)" for the axis, whereas the original Sturmovik campaigns are called "Fighter".

Have fun!

Ah I was to tired yesterday, my english sucked, two mistakes in the Thread topic, I am sorry

KI is the german abbrevation for "Künstliche Intelligenz", or Artificial Intelligence.

If one of them is an Ace, the other guy (that PTA guy) is most likely one as well. Not only they perform noticably better, they also have dozens of red stars painted around their planes nose, most likley their air victory count. At the moment I do not remember for what kind of campaing that was, I´ll check at home, though I think by your description its an original campaign.

Anyway, back home I´ll try to shoot them down first, after all even an ace does not take more hits of MK 108 than a green pilot

Well, if the letters are "PTA" you were really beign chased by an ace, Rechkalov to be more specific.

Number 100 was the plane of Aleksandr Pokryshkin. "PTA", or better P, inverted L and A, are cyrillic letters for RGA, initials of Grigorii A. Rechkalov. They were two of the top scoring Russian aces of WWI.

When I said not the names of real aces, I meant the ones in Forgotten Battles, such as "BoB" (who flies for the Germans).

Oh great, having two of those in a mission explains why I got a little frustrated yesterday. Guess I will just try to do as good as possible and then go on to the next mission

Come to think about it, one more question. Those two guys already appeaed before, though only one at a time with some standard wingmen, what made them much more handeble. This means potentially I could have killed them if they didn´t make the parachute dance. Since Igo kyu was saying the missions were scripted, has anyone tried to find out wether those guys are killable to not show up anymore in later missions? Having already two of them makes me think of running into squads full of russian aces, and it is not an idea I like

This makes me think of good old Wing Commander, back in the 90s, where you encounterd Kilrathi Aces in certain missions, and if you let them get away with their fur intact you would encoutner them again in some of the very last missions of the game

LoL, maybe I'm not a good virtual pilot,

During my dogfight with Ki something.. Japs in KhalkhinGol offline campaign which I got from mission4today.., I had very tough time to shoot dem down. Even if I fly with La-7 I couldn't shoot that obsolete planes. whenever i lined up with one of them they make very sharp turns and I have to do the same making me bleed speed and stall.
Then my turn to get away with speed advantage hopefuly but somtimes they catch and shoot me down . I don't understand that.
Finally I flied with yak-3p and hardly managed to shoot them down with help of the agile charachteristics of yak3.
