Vista HP
Intel 2.140@1.60GHz Ram2GB 32bit nvidia GTX440 Saitek Pro FlightYoke Saitek Pedals and Quadrant Hi all i guess this could be my swan song for now, after spending several days trying to master the intracasies of CoD without any real success,ie. neither controller will set up fully nor hold the settings I manage to install, and none of the actions seem to work as they should ,I have decided to give it up for now, allowing for the fact that both I and my PC are somewhat older(relatively speaking) model, hence my Nick(oldtimer)the above is not too suprising, though I do run several other sims,FSX,FS,Winngs of Prey, and train and racing sims with some modicum of success . Anyway I am considering getting IL46 in the hope that it has some of the good qualitiea ot the IL games with less of the confusing,(to me) bells and whistles . Any comments on the above ramblings would be welcome .I will keep CoD within reach in case a new patch or a PC update(Xms ![]() 'Bye for now Ron(oldtimer) |

Your system does look as though it could struggle with CloD and falls short of the recommended system specs but, if you are running WOP, then I see no reason why IL1946 shouldn't work reasonably well.
I cut my teeth on IL1946, for what it costs to purchase its well worth it. Unfortunately, you will still need to optimise it to suit your system and get all the update patches to bring it up to version 4.11 (from 4.07). I suggest you visit the IL1946 forum where you can get all the info and links regards optimising and updating. Does CloD run other than for the problems you mention with assigning axis and buttons?

Hi
Thanks for the reply,Wop was also a bit of a struggle, the yoke wouldn't handle it ,just the JS,I agree that at the price IL46 is worth a try.CoD planes fly smoothly some of the time, but the rest did some pretty wierd things, colours, and never knowing what yoke input would do what ,if anything. I don't mind fiddling around and having to wait for a long drawn out download as long as it runs half decently when installed, and I thought IL46 should run on my PC pretty well So Wish me luck. |

I had the the DVD version but may be similar on DL purchases, I had to open the DVD and run a file named a. and not the auto run install files which seem to be the obvious choice. It then installed but it looks as though it hangs half way through the installation - just be patient and after a while it springs to life and viola - its installed.

Actually it's "a.exe" but you might not see the ".exe"-part if you turned off the visibility of "known file extensions".
One more important thing: Under Vista do not install IL-2 within the "C:\Programs"-folder. Install it in "C:\Games\IL-2" or "C:\IL-2" or on another drive. Vista and Win7 do some weird shadowing stuff within "C:\Programs" IL-2 (being from 2001) was naturally not prepared for. Good luck, Artist |
