What do you think of the new coming platform LGA 2011 for performance in games and especially for this one ? Do you think the performances will be increased in comparison of the 2600 K (I plan to buy the 3930 K 3.2 Ghz,6 cores and at least 16 GB ram )? No choice at the moment concerning the graphic card but certainly i will wait for kepler.

I guess you are talking about the incoming Intel´s CPU that uses the new "Ivy Bridge".

They will be fabricated in 28nm, that mean more speed and the design improvements is rumored a up to 10% in speed, so guess that around 20% up in performance against a 2600K.

But the 2011 socket is build for professional applications that can take the advantage of tree-channel memory bus up to 16 GB (for example) and use Hyper-threading.

In games in general, and in IL2COD, the tree channel-memory have no difference against two-channel systems and Intel hyper-threading is rarely used (in some cases even had problems).

So, for example, you can save a few bucks dropping the tree channel-memory and Intel hyper-threading and going for a 2500k and a 1155 board, and have the same performance in games of a 2600k and a 1366 board.

So the bang for the buck choice is the 1155 socket.

There will be new Ivy Bridge CPU´s in February-march that will use the 1155 socket, and new motherboards, just now the current 1155 boards supports Ivy Bridge CPUs.

After the fiasco of Bulldozer I´m puzzled in get a 2500k now and overclock it to 4.800Mhz or wait for Ivy Bridge and get something able to do over 5.000Mhz 24/7 on air without problems.

But those six cores CPU´s are so sweet, so I guess that I´ll wait a bit more.

The socket LGA 2011 is not a ivy bridge it's the follower of the LGA 1366.

The LGA 2011 it´s the follower of the LGA 1366, that´s right, but support´s Sandy Bridge E CPU´s and Ivy Bridge E CPU´s (coming in 2012).

Like the 1155 socket support´s Sandy Bridge K CPU´s and Ivy Bridge K CPU´s.

So you are talking about Sandy Bridge E CPU´s, I don´t see much sense on pick up this now because the new Ivy´s for 1155 are around the corner, with nice speeds price and power usage.

And tree or four channel along with Hyper-t are useless in IL2COD, performance wise.

Sitting and waiting here as well to see what cpu/mobo combo will be my next upgrade.
an i5 2500k looks really good right now, but once the new intel pcus and sockets come out it might be the time to strike, since with new releases prices for i5 2500k and i7 2600k may drop a bit (hopefully).

So for myself I am considering an 1155 mobo with an i5 or i7 sandybridge, since I am somewhat disenchanted about the Bulldozer release.

1155/z68 mobos are the only ones as well at this time that I have seen to be future compatible with pcie x16 3.0 ( with an Ivybridge pcu though ).

Would anyone be able to recommend a z68 mobo at this time?

Go for a good1366 and a high end i7 (and possibly 980)with a 580gtx with the possibility of tri sli and 12-24gb of ram and you are set! Also will be very cheap in a few months imo.
