Default Mr.Oleg Please one more thing to IL2-1946

I am posting at this forum, trying to get as close to the source as possible!

Mr.Oleg, please do one more little thing to IL2 1946.

Please give us Wide Screen & Triplehead2go simmers a full vertical FOV in cockpit!

One more little tweak to the config.ini file?

Am looking forward to Bob SoW, but I will still be wanting to fly in the pacific for years to come.

Please, I'm on my hands and knees, begging for one more little patch, please, please, please, please.

For specific's please read this post over at the CH forum.

See.......

The IL2 in game FOV was not written for 3840 wide resolution. Although I'm gaining approx 40" of horizontal viewing, I am losing approx 2" of my vertical view, 1" on the top and 1" on the bottom. (see above) The rectangle box in the middle of this screen shot would be my FOV if I was using a single monitor.

I would like to see this as well. You pretty much CAN'T buy a decent LCD monitor these days in a store unless its widescreen, and its disappointing to have my vision cut off to be less than a 4:3 when I should have *more*

Great game though! =D

Are you crazy? (Just kidding, I couldn't help myself)

No seriously, You are referring to IL2-1946 right?

If thats the case, that is a bummer, he should re-consider!

I read on this forum a while back, can't find it now, where someone asked Oleg in the questions and answers thread, would he be addressing wide screen monitors in SOW , I believe his answer was "yes" but then he added "but it was not on the top of the list"? I did read that somewhere didn't I?

I understood the "yes" part, but the "not on the top of the list" part was not clear to me, did he mean that it will be addressed before it hits the shelves? or be addressed in a patch afterward?

Selling a simulator to the public that is not wide screen friendly would be kinda like trying to sell cassettes to people with dvd players, huh? Ah, I'm thinking Oleg is smarter than that.

Although disgruntled about the wide screen problem, I am a big time fan of Oleg's work, his sims are hands down the best!

Oleg, If you won't or can't patch IL2-1946 for wide screen. I only have one thing to say.............

Hurry up and bring on SOW!

For 4:3 1600x1200 20-22 inchers try Eizo/ or iiyama displays, almost exclusively with S-IPS: perfect image quality even if a little slow (8 to 20ms but it doesn't really matter for flightsims); be prepared for some "quality" prices.
If you want triple monitors, i'd recommend limiting to ones with 1280x1024 resolution; more than this isn't supported in DirectX, and probably won't be supported in the next two to five years.
A quality display w/ 1280x1024: Samsung 971P. It's basically the only quality 19 incher that's still selling. Three of these babies and you'll be ready to roll, triple head maxed out. One more thing: AFAIK it's the only display (still available) with S-PVA on 1280x1024; the viewing angle is nothing short of amazing, and matters a lot; with a TN monitor you'll see shifted color on the side monitors in a triplehead, because you'll be looking from an angle and not straight on.
