Takeoff Power

I make an assumption that in the training programme for solo flight, the Hurricane has been set up for takeoff. Unfortunately at max throttle I can only just get above tree height, which makes it a very short flight. My CH Fighterstick is calibrated with no problems in FSX.

the two pitch Hurricane (DH) or the CSP Rotol one?
Complex engine managemment on or off ?
