Talking ATI crossfire performance "UPDATE" No.. really its positive!!!!! :)

Hello gents,

I know this is really a tech thread thing but its already in that area and I am not convinced that everyone digs in further than the general forum these days

Up until yesterday I was still getting Bollox performance while running at 1920-1080 res even with all the settings turned to lowest possible. I figured this was due to the crossfire optimization still not being really well....... optimized so i hadn't really messed with it at all since last patch didn't really change anything.

Last night though i was poking though the tech threads and found the splash screen disable one ( i know late to the party) any way i thought what the hell and made that change and at the same time remembered that when i first got a copy of ROF and was messing with settings for some reason 1920-1080 worked like complete crap and as soon as i put it to 1776-1000 res it worked perfect with everything maxed out.

after some ROF patches that came out i can now run it on 1920-1080 maxed out silk smooth but it got me thinking that I had messed with different res settings in CLOD before the Crossfire support patch but not really after.

So rite after i disabled the splash screen i also lowered my res to 1776-1000 and started the game. I don't know if its the disable or the res drop but all of a sudden I'm running full graphics settings with AAx2 SSAO on and the epi filter and vsync off and with the exception of some FPS hits rite when i spawn while all the houses and trees render i get silk smooth fps from wheels up to wheels down even when over London, sky full of planes.

I do still get the persistent stutters the whole time though which is a bit annoying but at least the game is running very well at this res (my specs are in my sig) I did not do another clean install or anything and my only mod is the tracer mod

I tried just about every single mission with every plane last night and got the same results as above. some aircraft still had little graphics quirks such as tiger moth had flickering lines popping in and out during flight, and 109E 3B throttle did not load and was un responsive but all the other planes worked great and looked great for a change i still think that my machine should be able to run it at 1920-1080 but maybe there having the same issue that ROF did??? (quick someone call them up and find out what they did to fix it)

Anyway I have seen a few posts from crossfire users (and i was one of them) still having fps issues even with upper mid machines so hope this helps them too.

and sorry i wrote so much but its been awhile since i had a good report to make lol

cheers

Best thing you can do to get crossfire working is to load up radeon pro and force Lost planet profile. http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthr...t=23604&page=2
COD doesnt use crossfire properly by default its only using 50% of each GPU compared with 100% of 4GPUs in my rig with the lost planet profile.

PS. Turning on "Disable API monitoring" under settings for radeon pro stops the menu corruption in game.

And SLI is STILL not working. Really pisses me off! Cant be THAT hard to create a profile can it? Or is it maybe NOT the profile that preventing the game from working with SLI...?

If you mean Ubisoft splash screen, it soesen't help Crossfire performance but after disabling it your card is running 3D speed and not 2D speed, this was problem on some ATI cards.

Do you still have stutters with the Lost planet profile and reduced texture quality (to high or medium)?

I had stutters till I excluded both Steam and Documents/1C-Softclub folders from antivirus real time shields (not scheduled or on demand scanning) and defragged game files after each patch. Also have a look at link #5 in my sig for more things to try.
