Unhappy Heartbreak...

Hi there.

I've been keeping my eye on this forum and others over the past couple weeks to see whether I should buy COD or not due to the performance issues etc. Finally thought screw it, loved the others so much just do it and purchased and loaded. BUT it wont work on my (albeit average) computer!!!

It gets as far as the loading bar on a mission then when that hits 100 percent crashes back to desktop with the game still running in the background.

My knowledge of all things computers is somewhat limited but this would suggest to me a GPU problem? I'm running a ATI HD 4500 1GB so will this be the problem?

Any help you guys can give me would be much appreciated as I REALLY want to take this game for a spin!!

radeon 4500 sounds pretty weak sauce. Isn't it a mobile chipset? Are you running the latest catalyst (11.4 I believe) driver?

ok firstly i would check the integrity of your game files via Steam to make sure they are all where they should be, get all the latest drivers etc then wait as the newest retail patch is just about to be released via Steam.should be any time soon

While i agree that your GPU is a bit weak for this game, this is something that also happens occasionally on my somewhat beefier Ati 4890 (at least running the latest beta patch, haven't applied today's official patch yet).

The way i fix this is to alt-tab back to the desktop and then click on the CoD icon on the taskbar to switch back into the sim, then it correctly displays everything and flies smooth for the combination of hardware and graphic settings i use.

You might try changing your video settings to run in windowed mode instead of full screen.

Try hitting your windows key and jumping back to your desktop. Then click on the CLoD icon and jump back into the game.

I've tried that and no gravy, still just a black screen with all the sounds playing. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I have had similar issues. The problem is the company has not acknowledged these problems that at least hundreds if not thousands of people are having. Some people I talk to can play the game with no issues. However these issues you are mentioning no one has a fix for. They will all be suggestions to do. The fix is going to have to come from the company. I am a patient person however I expect the company to acknowledge the issues and try to fix them. You can keep trying the suggestions however nothing has worked so far for me and the latest patch has made everything worse. My advice would have been do not pay for something that is not finished. Now you are at the mercy of when they fix the issues that are plagued here.
