Lightbulb For Those Desiring Improved Graphical Visual & the **@ Issue.

As the titles states,
Highly suggest, for greatly improve visuals
Upgrade or mod to HFSX 7.3 (here)
Then, a couple of mods from SAS on top of HFSX
  1. Fix engines cowlings and prop´s by PA_Jeronimo
  2. New Mod Wheels also by PA_Jeronimo
To easily install using the HFXS "JSGMEMODS" tool read this post,

There's also small improvements such as "High Resolution Trees" by Oleg himself (too much for my machine though*), and Cranes and Tower fix by WxTech, which haven't tried yet, plus many, many other small mods for visuals.
These small mods do not change flight models, which is/can be controversial to some DCP's (Digital Combat Pilots). HFSX though, has the ability to switch between stock and expert mode flight models as desired.

And there are some extremely beautiful maps by Cyberolas here which I personally consider on par with the new BOS.

Basically IL-2 1946, is how much you want to put into it in time and research.

As for the **@ issue, this issue has been solved and is really irrelevant now, as almost all of these aircraft, very beautifully modeled are available now, and for free.

And lastly as a very cynical side note on flight models, personally, I think MY FAVORITE aircraft, the Bf-109 F/G series should be able to take out any F-16 on any day (or whatever your favorite aircraft maybe), and sure I've seen some documentation somewhere on the internet that it has been done. Better climb, roll, speed, fire power, whatever, but since it's been a while since I've flown both a new RL Bf 109 and new RL F-16 (or whatever your favorite aircraft is) in the same week, I'll not push the issue....just yet. But, I should know as I'm a self proclaimed expert on this issue. Ok, enough cynicism .

Anyway, hope this post helps some of our fellow DCP's enjoy IL-2 1946 a little bit more and something to do while waiting for 4.13.

I'm with you Tex. My squad has been using HSFX for a few years now and it's just wonderful. As far as scope and gameplay, nothing else comes close. I have to say that CLoD with the Fusion Mod is bloody gorgeous and gives you a much better idea of the workload that a WWII pilot had, but an hour or two is fine for me. I can play coops with my friends in IL2 for hours on end.

As for the 109 I can only agree. The game is sorely missing the hysterically accurate three minutes to 45,000 feet climb rate and the 30' at 600MPH turning circle of our beloved steed, but it is otherwise fairly accurate, so I guess we can let it slide. (The only reason any 109 pilot was ever killed is that they simply pulled the stick a little to hard and they were crushed into a little blob of goo)

I disagree. the Bf-109G series is seriously undergunned. The WG BR-21 should have all angles over-the-horizon lock-on, transonic speeds, and infrared terminal guidance.
