Default Is it possible to import models from IL2?

I'm mainly thinking about naval ships, the lack of which is very disappointing for any Kanalkampf scenario.

CloD has mostly rowing boats available at the moment (!). Presumably they have simple enough characteristics that you could replace their Meshes with ones adapted from Il-2 or work out their coding sufficiently to clone spaces for simple ships of your own.

Before they were optimised for Il2 would the artist have made a more detailed model of the vessels? Maybe it would be better to go to the orignial models rather than the ones out of IL2?

Cheers

Given they are two completely different engines, coded in totally different languages, I'd say no. What you could probably do is take the original model they made (before exporting it to IL-2) and add some more detail.

Given the more detailed models being used in CloD and the more detailed damage modeling, I'd say starting from scratch would be best.

Also I'm a little more worried about additional aircraft being modeled instead of other vehicles that are pretty much useless at this time. How many tanks and trucks did they make, for a battle completely devoid of ground combat. It's not like the Luftwaffe and RAF were doing many tank-busting missions in 1940.

Once the SDK's are available I think in theory we should be able to build our own models........the key is just to wait until that happens.

Yep, the release of an SDK is my big hope for CoD.

If I have to decide between zero naval ships with awesome detail and at least a couple of them with IL2-level of detail I'd go for the latter any day.
